WATCH IT. I WILL BLOG ABOUT YOU! AND I WILL CRUSIFY YOU IF YOU’RE A PRICK!

Soccer parents! You gotta love them.

My son finished up soccer tournaments this weekend. Needless to say, I figured they’d take last place. It’s all about the coach… and some of the parents.

The team won 1, game this season. By default. The other team didn’t show up because of a miscommunication.

I could go into how the kids were threatened, punished and belittled in front of their teammates. Or how the 2 “team stars” were allowed to play the entire game while the rest of the team had to be subbed out. And how this guy would take the kids away from earshot of the parents and blame them loosing the game on “poor refereeing” or “other coaches” or “their teammates” But that’s small potatoes.

TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
Four, back-to-back 45 minute games. The coach is playing his “star players” the entire time. By game 2 they’re burnt and we’ve not won a game. Coach has been yelling at the referees, blaming our teams losses on the other teams not playing “fair” and bad refereeing.

Now, for me, this is an issue. The Refs are 16-18, they’ve been trained and certified. They are doing the best job they can with what they’ve got. And as far as I’m concerned their calls were spot on. Final game, haven’t won 1 yet. And now I’m pissed at the way the coach is screaming profanities, yelling at the kids and disrespecting the refs. So I say to the sideline ref “Ref, you don’t need to take that!” and my other son watching the game says “Yep! Red card to the coach!”

During half time, I talked to the ref and the administrator of the league and said, “This is ridiculous. You need to red card our coach! He’s out of line.” Of course parents overheard me.

Eventually one of the parents lost it. Had it out with the ref, who (for his age) handled it quite well, basically told him to step off or forfeit the game for his team. But of course, he’d have nothing of the sort. So the ref said, “Fine. Game over!” and awarded the other team the win.

GUESS WHAT HAPPENED THEN?
The other parents on the team started screaming at me. I am talking “In your face” screaming at me for voicing my opinion to the ref. They didn’t blame the Coach or the other parent(s) for their ridiculously poor behavior. Nope, they blamed me.

Apparently none of these parents understood the lessons their children were walking away with during this season:

LESSONS YOUR CHILD SHOULD NOT WALK AWAY WITH

1. It’s o.k. to belittle people, especially in front of their peers. Encourage them to make each other feel bad as a means of trying to control them.

2. If you’re not winning, blame everyone else.

3. Focus on the negative.

4. It’s perfectly acceptable to shout profanities at people, even in front of young children.

5. And the best lesson of all:

If you don’t like what’s going on, get in someone’s face and scream at them.

Don’t stop.

Don’t listen to a word they have to say.

Just get in their face and scream at them.

Because that solves everything.

EL JARDIN DEL PATRON LOCO

This is how the vegetable garden turned out.. Lovely no?

Even though this project looks complete and could probably be crosssed off the "list", I have a feeling, it's not quite done, it needs one more thing.

Seems J's psychosis is contagious, as I sat and listend to the crew discussing the huge archway that they feel needs to be created at the main gate, with the banner "EL JARDIN DEL PATORN LOCO" or "THE CRAZY BOSS GARDEN"

Yeah. That works.

WELL, THERE'S SOMETHING YOU DON'T SEE EVERYDAY!

"Oh my God is that Hartigan?"

"Where?"

"Over there."

"Where I don't see her?"

"The woman in the dress! Over there!"

"She don't wear dress....OH MY GOD IT IS!"

"And she's even in high heels and wearing jewelry."

"Wanna make a bet she falls over?"

"Ha ha ha! That's a sucker bet!"

"Wow, that's not something you see everyday."
