GOODBYE 2005!

I’m sure, as of late, after every one of my posts you are thinking to yourself “That was funny, but what have you been up to?” Actually, I haven't put much effort into trying to add humor to my posts. My apologies, I will do better in 2006. But I digress.

This blog mainly started to keep family and friends updated on the progress of the house. Sadly, with the exception of a pipe bursting in the ceiling and a few other minor setbacks, we haven't done anything lately with the house. However, we have many projects in progress, such as the

WATERFALL/LANDSCAPING
Currently on hold

And of course
THE COURTYARD
Also on hold

But the big project this fall was
JOHNS SHOP
Which will most likely be done before the house. It already looks better than the house and John does quite a job keeping in clean, unlike the house.

WIRSBO AND CONCRETE

SPRAY FOAM INSULATION

SHOP FLOOR

I cannot even describe to you how ginormous this building is. It’s 2 stories tall, and until John starts to move in his storage and shelving, it has been doubling as a
ROLLER SKATING RINK

Que the sunset....Que the Auld Lang Syne song...pause and reflect.

And that's a wrap people.

That landscaping is great. I can't wait to see the finished project. Our landscaping style is more "Sanford & Son".

Happy New Year Colleen & Co.

Hizzle, you don't have a roller rink in your house? What century are you living in? Everyone in Minneapolis has a roller rink. Everyone who is anyone, that is.

I"m jealous of the roller skating also. I used to have to use our basement and the local tennis courts. Now I've got nothing...I'm comming over.

ps-Happy New Year!!!

The space will be overcome with junk pretty soon I'm sure. But Lynne if you're ever back in MN look me up. I'm sure we can find many o places to blade.

That is so so cool. I love the floor. How does it get that way?

The floor is concrete (of course) with an acid stain.

John likes to experiment around here, so he took a bunch of leaves that had fallen this fall and layed them on the floor and applied the acid stain on top. The leaves and concrete reacted with the acid and there you go. Pretty shop floor. Almost our entire house is concrete floors with some sort of weird application. I actually designed, cut and stained our music room floor http://www.hartiganconcrete.com/gallery.htm

We're going to the concrete confererence next week, there should be some interesting stuff.

It's gorgeous. And I love the pictures in your gallery too. The first one is your music room floor? I'm so impressed Colleen!

It's actually a living room, but we call it the "music" room because the only thing in it is the piano and my guitar. We do most of our "living" in the "family" room. I never understood that whole living room/family room concept. It's all about resale value.
